Rediscovering the 'Me' in 'Mumeeeeeee'

'I have always thought that there is no more fruitful source of family discontent than a housewife’s badly-cooked dinners and untidy ways'. (Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management, 1861)

That's not my house....

That’s not my house, its windows are too dirty.

That’s not my house, its floors are too grubby.

That’s not my house, its kitchen bin is too smelly.

That’s not my house, its bookcase is too dusty.

That’s not my house, its garden furniture has wet rot.

That’s not my house, its kitchen cupboards need a good sorting out.

That’s not my house, its tomato plants have all fallen over and no-one can be bothered to pick them up.

That's not my house, its inhabitants are too noisy.

That's not my house, its front garden is too weedy.

That's not my house, its sandpit is too spidery.

That’s not my house……oh, hang on, that actually is my house.

Have you been reading too many of 'those' books or are you just going through a serious case of house-keeping neglect, also know as the 'I-have-another-job' sydrome?

    Yup. Me too.

  8. That's also my house - and I've no excuse because I spent 4 hours on it yesterday!! Except the spiders in the sandpit - Ew!! We do have a nasty spider dangling from the swing, I noticed this morning as I was picking up apples which had blown off the trees in the gales. So my garden is tidy, anyway! (apart from said incy wincy on the swing).
